What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Wings Financial?
PRIMARY PURPOSE :
Maintain adherence to corporate, accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in the timely and accurate processing of Investments, Cash Management, Subsidiary and Property Management financials. Complete complex project work with tight deadlines. Guide and be a resource mentor for accounting and credit union staff. Participate in planning / implementation of business policies and procedures to ensure proper internal controls and risk measures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Play key role in completing monthly, quarterly, and annual close in an accurate and timely manner.
- Manage the accounting process for purchased loan and certificate pools.
- Coordinate and manage accounting for investments, including but not limited to :
- Managing daily cash position, and ensuring funds are available as needed for investing.
- Daily journal entries for Investment purchase, sale and cash management.
- Monthly accruals for interest, market value and premium / discount amortization.
- Reconcile subsidiary investment ledgers, bank accounts and investment general ledgers.
- Interact with internal portfolio manager and outside investment professionals.
- Design, create and prepare investment reports that track activity and performance.
- Complete complex general ledger and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and review monthly foundation and property management financials.
- Reconcile subsidiary and complex accounting general ledgers.
- Prepare and file Federal Reserve reporting requirements.
- Execute complex projects vital to changes in accounting requirements and goals.
- Play a key role in the process of selling mortgages.
- Coordinate with supervisor and managers on usability and enhancements to investment and ALCO reporting.
- Provide back up support and guidance to accounting and credit union staff regarding general ledger, member and posting issues, including serving as a resource to staff on Excel and other applicable systems.
- Work collaboratively and develop successful partnerships with staff across all departments and branches.
- Assist with both internal / external audits by preparing schedules, researching data, clarifying inquiries, and providing explanations.
- Identify and implement changes to processes that increase accuracy and efficiency and / or increase income and decrease expenses.
- Look for opportunities to further education and skills to meet needs as business demands change.

Pay Range : $85k-$105k plus 15% annual target bonus. The estimated hiring range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
