Trauma Sensitive Curriculum Manager
Note: These roles work directly with female participants in our residential homes. Wings of Refuge follows a trauma-informed care approach and due to the nature and sensitivity of the work we do, a bona fide occupational qualification is that we can only hire women into our residential services positions.
Full-time, 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday. On-call as needed.

Job Summary
The Trauma Sensitive Curriculum Coordinator will focus primarily on the development and implementation of curriculum through a trauma-sensitive lens. Coordinate scope and sequence of Learning Center classes in accordance with program phase outcomes. Additionally, this position will supervise the education team and is responsible for the curriculum calendar.
Job Responsibilities
Curriculum
- Develop trauma-sensitive curriculum that educates participants about coping skills, emotion regulation, trauma, etc.
- Research topics and use resources to enhance curriculum and key topics
- Evaluate needs of the program and assess topics and classes based on participant need
- Connect program outcomes with class content
- Develop and evaluate scope and sequence for programming needs
Classes
- Lead classes based on current needs or phases of participants. May delegate or designate leading of classes to volunteers or staff as appropriate or necessary. Assist with training and development of volunteers to help lead classes as needed.
- Lead discussions that create a safe environment for growth and healing
- Create a space of accountability in connection with class topics
Other Duties
- Supervising which includes but is not limited to setting clear expectations, monitoring performance, providing regular feedback to ensure individual and team success, and writing performance reviews.
- Oversee the coordination of volunteers at the learning center.
- Collaborate with the education team, residential team, and staff to implement a cohesive framework for participants.
- Provide feedback to the Program Managers that is relevant to and should be included in RISE plan meetings. May attend participant rise plans as needed.
- Read/record any pertinent documentation.
Education and Experience
- Education or experience in the mental health field, along with a good understanding of trauma is required.
- Preference will be given to individuals who possess a bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, behavior health, or a related field.
- 3 - 5 years of relevant experience required.

- Extensive knowledge and understanding of trauma-sensitive care and how trauma impacts healing.
- Administrative and organizational skills required
- Capable of performing multiple tasks and is well organized

- Effectively communicate with others

- Possess crisis management skills
- Participate in all required training and show competency in skill areas of training content
- Willingness to pursue and participate in continuing education to stay up to date on best practices and regulatory compliance requirements

- Never have been shown by credible evidence (e.g., a court or jury, a department investigation, or other reliable evidence) to have abused, neglected, sexually exploited, or deprived a child or adult or to have subjected any person to serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly negligent misconduct as evidenced by an oral or written statement to this effect obtained at the time of application and evidence of having made efforts to obtain and evaluate references from previous employers
- Complete a satisfactory preliminary criminal history background check and a satisfactory fingerprint records check.
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- Pass a motor vehicle record check
