Status & Classification: Temporary* | Part-Time | Non-Exempt

  • This is a grant-funded position with a term of approximately one (1) year. Start and end dates of employment may vary based on funding and at the discretion of the Wings Museum Director of Education.

Payrate: $21 ~ $23/hour (depending on experience)

  • $1/hour increase after successful completion of 180-day probationary period

Work Schedule: Thursday ~ Saturday | 9am ~ 2pm | < 24 hours/week*

  • This position must accommodate a flexible work schedule with variable hours including weekends, evenings, and special events.

Summary

The Education Outreach & Recruitment Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing recruitment best practices and strategies for Wings Aerospace Education (WAE) programs for middle- and high-school aged students. This position will help implement and participate in outreach programs at local area schools and community events to promote and raise awareness for WAE programming. The Education Outreach & Recruitment Coordinator is a member of the Education department who works closely with the Education Program Manager, Education Program Coordinator, and reports directly to the Director of Education.

Organization

Founded in 1994 on the former Lowry Air Force Base in east Denver's historic Lowry Field neighborhood, Wings Over the Rockies is a non-profit community organization dedicated to unlocking dreams of flight through exhibits, local events, and educational programming. We are Colorado’s official Air & Space Museum having been recognized by CNN Travel as one of their 20 Best aviation museums in the world. Each year we welcome roughly 160,000 visitors representing all 50 states and dozens of countries internationally. Wings is committed to diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. The Museum boasts more than 100,000 sq. ft. of open hangar space full of iconic aircraft, space vehicles, historical artifacts, and more. Visitors can experience thrilling flight simulators, discover educational programs, and participate in one of our many exciting Museum-sponsored events.

Exploration of Flight (EoF) is our flight-focused educational extension. This 15-acre campus is located at the Centennial Airport where we offer showcase events with a variety of aircraft, aviation immersion programs, pilot ground training, and flight experiences. EoF is home to our Blue Sky Gallery exhibit and interactive aviation center featuring an airworthy fleet of civilian and military aircraft.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Please Note - this list is not all inclusive but intended to be a general guide to the essential duties of this position.

  • Promote educational programs to potential students, parents, and educators
  • Coordinate recruitment opportunities during school visits and community events
  • Identify and recruit students for WAE programs
  • Work with the Education Programs Coordinator to provide support for prospective students during the application and enrollment process
  • Build and maintain relationships with local schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote WAE programs visibility and participation
  • Distribute marketing materials including brochures, flyers, and other promotional items
  • Wear Wings-approved uniforms and accessories to promote name recognition and brand identification
  • Track and analyze recruitment data to evaluate the effectiveness of outreach campaigns

Working Conditions

This position requires frequent commuting to various off-site locations. The Air & Space Museum operates within an 80-year-old aircraft hangar. Exploration of Flight is located at a busy regional airport. Environmental conditions may vary.

Requirements

  • Must be at least twenty-one (21 ) years of age or older
  • Must have reliable personal transportation and a clean driving record (MVR)
  • Must have a personal mobile/cell phone
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Communications, or similar field
  • 3 years of experience in educational outreach, community outreach, and/or recruitment
  • Clean background screening and CDE-VECHS criminal history check (fingerprinting)
  • Prior experience as an instructor or teacher in formal or informal settings (highly preferred)
  • Passion for education and experience recruiting students and/or developing educational outreach programs
  • Knowledgeable of educational systems, standard practices, and policies
  • Self-motivated, energetic, outcome-oriented, confident public speaker
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and phone skills
  • Computer proficiency including Office 365 and Google Workspace
  • Ability to deal professionally and sensitively with a diverse audience
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Able to juggle multiple projects and prioritize work
  • Able to work well as part of a team and independently without direct supervision
  • Commitment to program diversity and inclusion
  • Able to lift, pull, or carry thirty (30 ) lbs.
  • CPR/First Aid certified (preferred) or attend Wings-sponsored CPR training
