Status & Classification: Seasonal | Part-Time | Non-Exempt
Payrate: $18.50/hour
Work Schedule: May 27, 2023 ~ August 16, 2024* | Monday ~ Friday, 9am ~ 3pm | < 30 hours/week
*This position requires a commitment from candidates to work the entirety of the 2024 Summer Camp season. Start and end dates are flexible subject to approval from the Director of Education.

Founded in 1994 on the former Lowry Air Force Base, Wings Over the Rockies is a non-profit community organization dedicated to unlocking dreams of flight through exhibits, local events, and educational programming. We are Colorado’s premier Air & Space Museum having been recognized by CNN Travel as one of their 20 Best aviation museums in the world. Exploration of Flight (EoF) is our flight-focused educational extension. This 15-acre campus is located at the Centennial Airport where we offer showcase events with a variety of aircraft, aviation immersion programs, pilot ground training, and flight experiences. EoF is home to our Blue Sky Gallery exhibit and interactive aviation center featuring an airworthy fleet of civilian and military aircraft.
Summary
Summer Camp Counselors will assist in planning and leading small and large groups in a variety of aviation/aerospace/STEAM focused programs, games, and lunch activities. They will provide a high level of fun, positive communication, and safety for children ages 8 ~ 12. This position will have the opportunity to work at one or both Museum locations for the duration of the Wings summer camp program. Summer Camp Counselors work closely with the Education Program Manager, Aerospace Educators, the Education Program Coordinator, and report directly to the Director of Education.

Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum operates within an 80-year-old aircraft hangar. Exploration of Flight is located at a busy regional airport. Environmental conditions may vary.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Demonstrate a positive and fun attitude through courtesy, service, cooperation, sensitivity, and professionalism to all campers, families, and staff
- Greet families at the door and assist with daily sign-in/out of campers
- Interact with campers and engage them in camp activities
- Supervise children
- Help with activity set-up and clean-up
- Maintain a clean and safe environment
- Supervise daily lunch and snack time
- Be aware of any camper participant needs including health, behavioral, and/or disability specific medical conditions
- Attend mandatory Wings staff trainings
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age or older
- Reliable transportation to arrive on time for all work shifts
- Self-motivated, energetic, outcome-oriented
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills
- Able to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to work and assist with participants ranging from 8 ~ 12 years old
- Ability to deal professionally and sensitively with a diverse audience
- Ability to handle a number of projects and prioritize work
- Commitment to social inclusion
- Able to lift, pull, or carry at least 30 lbs.
- Attend Wings CPR training (if not already CPR certified)
