Wings Recovery in Carlsbad, CA is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor.
This position will work within our Women's Program.
The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for providing direct service to clients, and for facilitating the smooth day-to-day operation of the program. The Substance Abuse Counselor collaborates as a member of the multidisciplinary team (Treatment Team) to deliver effective treatment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
- Review treatment plan goals with clients regularly.
- Support clients in accessing community resources.
- Provide one-to-one counseling and Provide group therapy.
- Support team members when a crisis occurs.
- Be aware of and eliminate stressors in the facility.
- Inform Clinical Director of significant events in a timely manner.
- Communicate accurate and timely information within guidelines.
- Coordinate with other treatment providers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Education: Certification in Substance Abuse Counseling - CADC
- Experience: One year full-time experience working directly with clients in a program serving people with mental illness. An approved Plan of Supervision may be substituted for one year full-time experience.
- Knowledge of and belief in the principles of client centered treatment. Knowledge of medications and interventions preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player. Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and personal automobile insurance.
- Hiring is contingent upon receiving DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance or an exemption, a submission of a signed Criminal Record Statement (LIC 508), a TB test, and clearance on an employment physical.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification is preferred prior to employment.
- Attainment of at least 18 years of age.

Compensation range for the Substance Abuse Counselor role is $25-30/ per hour
The range provided is for California based hires only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations other than CA may differ based on the cost of living in that geographic location.
