Wingspan Life Resources is seeking a motivated, engaged, and committed candidate to fill the role of Program Director (PD). The PD is responsible for the development, supervision and direction of a team of House Coordinators, providing them with vision toward excellence in service, employee development guidance, and ongoing, effective oversight.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Program Director leads a team of House Coordinators ensuring all programs reflect the mission, vision and philosophy of Wingspan Life Resources and comply with state, county and federal licensing requirements.

The essential duties and responsibilities of this role include the following areas:

  • Leadership: Hires, trains, manages, and evaluates a team of House Coordinators and a skilled direct care workforce
  • Quality Assurance: On-site visits to evaluate and maintain quality levels of safety, living conditions, individual program plans, and new client admissions
  • Compliance:
  • Reviews documentation of services
  • Conducts health and safety investigations
  • Participates in licensing reviews
  • Maintains current knowledge of all applicable rules and statutes and trains the HC team to ensure compliance
  • Administration and Finance:
  • Attends and actively participates in trainings, meetings and special events
  • Acts as a liaison with county and state representatives and families, assuring positive working relationships
  • Evaluates staffing expenses at each site recommending cost effective means of meeting client needs
  • Reviews and authorizes employee timesheets, expense and mileage reports, and credit card reports

REQUIREMENTS:

  • The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism is required to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive and issues
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize, plan, and organize work
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Willingness to take initiative, adapt to circumstances, and work independently.
  • Demonstrate positive demeanor
  • Proficient in licensing rules, regulations and other mandated requirements of the state and county

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in the Human Service field or four (4) years or more related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably in a setting providing services to clients with developmental disabilities and/or related conditions
  • Experience providing services in crisis, and or high behavioral setting.
  • A minimum of two (2) years program management experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from case managers, clients, family, licensors and the general public
  • Ability to comfortably utilize word and excel programs and train others in the use of these programs
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Ability to stand and walk for periods of time; frequently bend, stoop, crouch, and kneel
  • Ability to use restraints and lift persons or implement required therapeutic interventions, as needed and or required
  • A valid Minnesota Drivers’ License with current auto insurance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for Wingspan’s mission
  • Qualification standards as a Designated Coordinator under 245D.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works in a variety of settings and at sites
  • Has regular contact with individuals and employees
  • Subject to frequent interruptions, crisis management, and imposed deadlines.
  • May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset individuals, employees, family members and the general public
  • May be subject to physically aggressive individuals, requiring the use of physical intervention techniques
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions, and frequent problem-solving activities.
  • May be exposed to bodily fluids, odors, dust, etc. throughout the day
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and could be extreme when on site
  • Carries and responds to cell phone during non-working hours

Employees scheduled to work 20 hours or more are offered: PTO Accrual, Company Paid Life, Short-term, Long-term disability insurance, and enrollment in our 401(k) plan fully vested and matched at 4%.

Employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more are offered: Medical and Dental Insurance, PTO Accrual, Company Paid Life, Short-term, Long-term disability insurance, and enrollment in our 401(k) plan fully vested and matched at 4%.
