This position is responsible for the investigation, adjustment and resolution of assigned claims. The Claim Representative will be required to manage a caseload of minor to moderate type property losses in accordance with Company standards and IC 27-4-1 / ORC 3901-1-54.
Salary Grade (10) 58,321 - 72,900 - 87,481
Candidates must reside in Ohio or Indiana.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Initiate prompt and effective communication with all parties having legal or contractual interest in claim presented.
Conduct a prompt and accurate investigation of all losses assigned. Scope of investigation should be proportionate to complexity of claim.
Conducts a thorough investigation to determine whether coverage exists.
Negotiates timely and appropriate settlements within designated authority level.
Manages assigned claims through prompt and accurate file documentation.
Effectively communicates with insured about coverage or any coverage issues.
Draft correspondence, coverage letters, and settlement letters to insureds.
Effectively manages a fluctuating workload.
Recognize and pursue potential subrogation.
Effectively manage the use of outside vendors.
Adhere to the "Unfair Claims Practices Act" and other statutory requirements.
Any other duties deemed necessary by your supervisor or management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
College Degree or Equivalent Experience

1 year property claims adjusting experience or 2 years relevant claims adjusting experience
Proficient knowledge of property claims
Demonstrated negotiation, investigation, communication and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to demonstrate effective negotiation skills and handle conflict
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Demonstrated ability using estimating software
Experience using a claims management system, such as Guidewire
Previous construction or restoration experience
Industry designations such as CPCU, AIC, PCLS
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The individual must be able to effectively and clearly communicate with agents, insureds, departmental and company personnel via telephone, fax, e-mail, one-on-one dialogue and small group presentations in a professional manner.
REASONING ABILITY
The position requires the individual to apply common sense, understanding, reasoning and sound educated judgement coupled with sound Claims training and experience to properly evaluate and analyze claims for recommended action within assigned authority levels.

The Claim Representative is responsible for the proper handling of claims. Each Claim Representative will be assigned a specific work cubicle station and or other individual work areas. The workstation will be located adjacent to other similar workstations. The workstation has the necessary equipment to perform the position duties including personal computer, telephone, file space, and needed work table space.
The environment is reasonably quiet with needed interaction between other team members, immediate supervisor, and other company staff. Moderate noise level from telephone calls is expected.
