Job Description: Clerk II - WIC Program
The Clerk II position provides clerical support necessary in the provision of quality services for Health Department clients in the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program. The WIC Clerk II will provide professional client centered customer service, assess client program eligibility requirements, have excellent communication skills, and work as a multifunctional team member.
Maintains client records by creating, pulling and filing records as needed for program services to keep clinic and/or programs running smoothly. Promotes and supports breastfeeding in the WIC program. Provides clients with appropriate referrals to other health and social service agencies. Works within various WCHD programs to assist clients in utilizing all local resources available to them. Provides program interpretation to individuals, groups and organizations from the general public, health and other agencies. Actively participates in strategic initiative group to ensure WCHD strategic plan goals are met. Verifies client program eligibility, accurately documents proof of income, residency, identity, pregnancy, birth, etc., and provides comprehensive explanation of WIC eligibility requirements, including rights and responsibilities, to clients following WIC guidelines.
Education, Licensure, Certifications, Experience
High School diploma or GED is required.
Bilingual Preferred
At least one (1) year previous clerical/office experience is required. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience scheduling appointments and/or working in a health-care related position and/or candidates who is proficient in written and verbal communications in a second language.
Successful completion of WIC Intake training plan within 30 days of hire.
Successful completion of Tier 1 new staff trainings within 60 days of hire.
Valid driver’s license, current certificate of vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation to all assigned work locations.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work within a diverse and changing environment.

Pay: $15.69 - $18.44 per hour
