What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor, Shop position at Winnebago Industries Inc?
Primary Objective of Position: Represent Winnebago Industries in a courteous and professional manner to customers, co-workers and shop personnel in all aspects of responsibility ensuring the highest degree of customer satisfaction and employee engagement.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Support technicians by holding quarterly reviews and annual merit review
- Promote a Safety-First environment by training to processes and continuing education
- Coordinate training for technicians
- Recognize team members on both a personal and professional level
- Assist flow through the shop by working with Parts, Service Advisors and Dispatch
- Provide troubleshooting assistance when needed
- Communicate repetitive quality/safety issues to appropriate areas
- Thoroughly understand and provide direction as dictated by the employee handbook
- Ensure PM schedules for equipment are current and followed
- Monitor shop systems and schedule maintenance if needed
- Verify proper staffing in the shop by maintaining proper vacation approval levels
- Support leads in their day-to-day activities, filling in when one is out of the shop
- Coordinate support with other areas in the company when needed, IE campaigns etc
- Audit work orders for accuracy in documentation
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Must have good communication skills/able to take direction, give direction and work well with others
- Ensure we are providing a safe working environment for our team members
- Equipment is in good working order with proper safety guides in place
- Team members are trained to the process and proper use of equipment
- PPE requirements are clearly posted and understood
- Understand process for addressing any injuries that may occur
- Work with Service Advisors to understand workload coming into the shop
- Work with Leads & Dispatch to coordinate location of coaches and allocation of techs
- Direct movement of techs to support completion of specialty tasks
- Direct coach movement to accommodate use of hoists, paint booth, water test, dump station etc.
- Provide repair direction
- Recommend methods of repair when asked
- Obtain additional information if needed by tech
- Communicate product issues to appropriate team members
- Safety and compliance issues with Product Compliance
- Design and warranty issues with Engineering
- Customer feedback with Product Design
- Suggested repair methods with Customer Care and Tech Service
- Production/Quality issues with the Quality department
- Train new employees
- Educate surrounding Code of Conduct expectations
- Instill that Safety is our # 1 priorities
- Verify that leads are communicating Tool Box Talks, Safety Matters etc
- Assist with training surrounding proper completion of workorders
- Coordinate timing of participation of vendor, internal and RVTI training
- Recognize employees on both a personal and professional level
- General working knowledge of RV’s and their systems
- Expected to support work on product built over the last 50 plus years
- Will have working knowledge of plumbing systems, both fresh water and wastewater
- Understanding of electrical systems, both AC and DC is also required
- Basic understanding of the operation of all systems on the RV
- Ability to manage time
- Monitor repair status, working throughout the shop providing direction and supporting flow of coaches through the process
- Managing personnel issues such as documenting incidents as they arise
- Available as needed for OT work, IE starting at 6:00 and some Saturday mornings
- Familiarity with Winnebago Operating Systems, Mainframe, Team Center, Viewing System
- Address Personnel matters appropriately
- Report unsafe behavior
- Respond to vacation requests
- Maintain and approve tech hours in ADP
- Ensure Hourly Handbook policies are being followed
- Report to manager any incidents of waste, insubordination, any concerns regarding harassment etc
