What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data/Charge Entry Clerk position at Winnie Community Hospital L L C?
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs admission and/or charge entry duties for assigned facility/service which may include primary care clinics, Behavioral Health nursing home rounds, imaging centers, or other facility/service as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Processes and files admission records by utilizing specific facilitys scheduling system, EMR, or other records system.
- Secures necessary information from facility or provider.
- Completes admission record based on provided information.
- Obtains insurance information and verifies coverage, if necessary.
- Performs charge entry based on coding/service description provided by performing provider.
- Sends queries to performing facilities in order to obtain additional information needed for admission record or charge entry.
- Ensures episode visit information is accurate in billing system.
- Completes admission and/or charge entry in a timely manner in order to meet Month End deadlines.
- Works independently and cross trains in other areas, if needed.
- Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager, Director, or Team Lead.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of office experience in a medical setting, preferably in a BusinessOffice or Billing Office
- Must be organized and dependable, and able to work independently with little supervision.
- Familiarity with electronic health data systems
- The candidate should be knowledgeable with various insurance websites, Navinet, Availity, UHC Link, etc.
- Basic understanding of billing and coding principals and medical terminology
