Job Overview
JOB SUMMARY: The School Grounds Keeper will be responsible for the maintenance, care, and operation of the school district’s outdoor spaces, including turf, athletic fields, and related facilities, to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students, staff, and the community. This role involves performing routine lawn care, seeding, fertilizing, watering, and pest control, as well as maintaining and operating power equipment, such as mowers, tractors, and irrigation systems. The Grounds Keeper will also support the district’s athletic program by preparing fields for events, including field layout and striping, and will ensure the cleanliness and safety of open spaces and structures. Additionally, the position involves snow removal, emergency response, and maintaining effective relationships with staff, students, contractors, and the community. The role requires availability for overtime and emergency situations as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School diploma or GED.
* Grounds maintenance or custodial experience that demonstrates knowledge of the tasks and functions of the job. Experience with turf care and maintenance of athletic fields preferred.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
* A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
