What are the responsibilities and job description for the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) position at Winnisquam Regional School District?
The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide essential services to students with communication disorders, helping them to achieve their full academic and social potential. This role requires a deep understanding of speech and language development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. By developing tailored therapy plans and fostering strong relationships with students, families, and school staff, the SLP plays a crucial part in each student’s success. This therapist promotes communication skills and helps students achieve their personal and academic goals.
General Responsibilities
•Evaluate students to identify speech, language, and related disorders.
•Develop and implement individualized therapy plans to meet each student's specific needs.
•Conduct individual or group therapy sessions addressing speech, language, and related issues.
•Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to support students' academic and social success.
•Participate in the development, review, and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
•Document and report on students' progress towards therapy goals.
•Conduct screenings as needed and requested to assess speech, language, and hearing abilities, identifying students who may benefit from further evaluation.
•Develop and deliver training or professional development sessions for teachers and staff to support classroom strategies that foster language development and communication skills.
•Counsel and provide resources to students and families to support effective communication at home and in social settings.
•Collaborate with external providers, as needed, to ensure continuity of care and comprehensive support for students.
•Stay current with research, practices, and professional development in speech-language pathology to bring innovative approaches to the district.
•Support the district’s strategic goals, especially in areas related to equity, diversity, and inclusion, by providing services that address the communication needs of all students equitably.
•Adapt and modify therapy techniques and resources to be culturally responsive and tailored to diverse student backgrounds and needs.
•Ensure confidentiality in accordance with both HIPAA and FERPA as appropriate.
•Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
Education Requirements
•Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.
•ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).
•Valid New Hampshire SLP license.
•Experience working in a school setting preferred.
Certification Requirements
•ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).
•Valid NH State License for Speech Language Pathology.
•Valid Driver License

•Willingness to travel between school sites within the district as required
