WinnMed is seeking to hire a Veteran Specialist to the WinnMed Hospice team!
The Veteran Specialist is responsible to develop and coordinate a Veteran program within WinnMed Hospice, in alignment with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) “We Honor Veterans” program. This includes coordination of volunteers, recognition, and serving as a liaison for all Veteran services for our patients. This individual will serve as a resource for patients and other Veteran organizations to assist Veteran patients and families during end of life processes. The Veteran Specialist will assist in marketing our services to area communities.
This position is PRN, or work shifts as needed.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of and commitment to hospice philosophy of care required.
- Must be a veteran, defined by USC Title 38.101.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to engage with Veterans and families empathetically and develop strong relationships required.
- Knowledge of VA benefits, community veteran resources, and end of life care considerations for veterans required.
- Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary hospice teams, volunteers, and external organizations required.
- Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
