General Maintenance Technician
0.6 - 1.0 FTE, 48 - 80 hours per pay period
Hours are generally scheduled between 7 am and 3:30 pm, with some flexibility needed
Monday through Friday with occasional weekends.
No holidays
Position Overview:
The General Maintenance Technician provides for the painting and refinishing of surfaces and equipment. This work is done for the most part on the main campus and is restricted to areas owned by Winona Health. There may also be some work requested at other buildings owned by Winona Health. Individual must be able to work independently and demonstrate high-quality work and productivity management. Finishing of surfaces both old and new to include repairs, sanding and finishing applications to result in the desired end product.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Applies wall coverings and does wall covering repair. Prepares the room or area for work by removing furniture, equipment and items on the wall as needed. Washes walls as needed prior to painting or for other reasons.
- Makes floor repairs to vinyl, tile and carpet surfaces.
- Assists with maintenance repairs as requested. Maintains a clean work area during and after completion of painting.
- Infection Control Certification or ability to become certified. Responsible for all installation, monitoring
- Install light carpentry work to include drop ceilings, doors, windows, case work, caulking, wall moves and other light carpentry tasks
- General maintenance duties and cross train/assist the Master HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical staff
- This position offers the opportunity for one to gain continued education into the engineering field, preferably a 1st Class B Grade MN Boiler license.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Required:
- High school/GED/equivalent.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Demonstrated painting trade experience.
- The position requires expertise in sanding and filing of all types of surfaces. This will also involve the knowledge and use of the proper rollers and brushes for the application of all types of paints and varnishes, as well as any new materials coming on the market.
- The ability to apply wall covering and the patching and replacement of floor tile, vinyl floor patching and carpeting are all part of the tasks undertaken.
