Slitter Operator

POSITION SUMMARY:
Winpak is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Slitter Operator to join our production team. Reporting to the Converting Supervisor, the Slitter Operator is responsible for producing slit rolls according to customer specifications while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity. In this role, you will ensure efficient operation of machinery, perform quality inspections, and work collaboratively within a team to meet production targets. Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret shop orders and specification sheets to ensure product accuracy.
• Set up the slitting machine efficiently, minimizing scrap and downtime.
• Inspect products for defects and ensure quality standards are met.
• Perform routine machine inspections and report maintenance issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Report safety hazards and machine problems to the appropriate supervisor.
• Complete production reports accurately and in a timely manner.
• Monitor and maintain an adequate supply of raw materials.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1-2 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in slitting or with blown film.
• Ability to read a tape measure and basic math skills.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to perform data entry.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify product defects.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in operating slitting machinery or working with extrusion.
• Familiarity with safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.
• Additional training or certifications in manufacturing or production processes.

Working Environment & Physical Demands:

• May have exposure to chemical hazards, noise, and hot surfaces.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs regularly, with occasional lifting of over 100 lbs with assistance.
• Frequent bending, stooping, and stair climbing; 80% of the time spent standing or walking.
• Requires visual acuity for reading specifications and operating machinery.

Compensation Range:
The compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and expertise.
