What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Finance Paralegal - Austin position at Winstead PC?
The Austin office of Winstead PC is seeking a Paralegal to join our Public Finance Practice Group. Ideally, the candidate would have prior experience in public finance or real estate.
The Special Districts Paralegal will research statutes; draft documents for attorney review; keep up to date with election laws for political subdivisions; review and keep up to date with changes in laws governing Special Districts following legislative sessions; have responsibility for Board meetings from start to finish; and keep notes and/or recordings of Board meetings. The Special Districts Paralegal is the "go-to" individual for each District and communicates with a team of consultants including engineers, bookkeepers, financial advisors and developer representatives.
Qualified candidates will have 4 years of paralegal experience in a law firm. Additionally, one of the following criteria is strongly preferred: (1) Bachelor's degree; (2) Paralegal certificate or Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies; (3) Certified Legal Assistant. Project management experience to confirm quorums, prepare for meetings, and distribute materials for review to Board members is helpful. Accurate recordkeeping and file management skills are required. Flexibility with working hours to complete projects, flexibility to attend lunch and evening meetings, and the ability to travel to/from meetings inside and outside of the metroplex is required. Position requires a highly organized, self-motivated individual who possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills and enjoys a team-oriented working environment.
