McGovern Elementary School is seeking a talented individual to fulfill the role of Child Development Specialist or School Counselor. General Responsibilities :
Contributes to student academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and ethical growth of all students;Develops, selects, and modifies social-emotional guidance lessons to meet the needs of the students;Assists students with conflict resolution;Communicates and interacts with staff, parents, and the community as appropriate to the needs of the students;Provide student, parent, and teacher support in the transition students;Documents counseling sessions using a Google template (easily accessible by those the document is shared with) per the request of the campus principal for internal use by administration and teachers;Builds positive relationships with students, families, and teachers to help each student have a successful school year;Facilitates and / or attends SST, 504, and parent / teacher conferences as requested by the campus administrator;Keeps the campus administrator apprised of any pertinent information regarding the students;Provide in-person support for all students as they transition into the new school year;Attends counselor professional development trainings and / or meetings as directed by the campus administrator;Advocates for the success of each student;Serves as a resource for students, school personnel, and parents;Performs other duties as assigned by the campus administrator.Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Social Science, Child Development, Education or related field; or TSPC School Counselor license.Knowledge of child growth and development with the ability to genuinely connect with upper elementary aged students using PBIS strategies;The ability to work cohesively and collaboratively with campus staff and administration to help meet the needs of the students;Comfortable with using technology;The ability to train students and / or provide staff development regarding behavior services prior to and during the school year as requested.Three ReferencesRequirements :
