Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care to critically ill patients while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of medical care. This role requires strong clinical skills, the ability to make quick decisions, and a compassionate approach to patient and family interactions.
Duties
- Assess and monitor patients' conditions, including vital signs and laboratory results.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Provide ostomy care and tube feeding as necessary.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals in case management for complex patient needs.
- Educate patients and families on health management, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems such as Athenahealth.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds to discuss patient progress and care plans.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including basic life support procedures.
- Support pediatric patients when required, demonstrating sensitivity to their unique needs.
Skills
- Proficient in ostomy care and tube feeding techniques.
- Strong background in case management and medical office procedures.
- Knowledge of occupational health practices and workers compensation law.
- Experience in behavioral health settings is a plus.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Familiarity with electronic health records systems, particularly Athenahealth, is advantageous.
