Duties
- Monitor the health status of mothers and newborns throughout labor and delivery.
- Administer medications, including IV infusions, as prescribed.
- Perform venipuncture for blood draws and IV access.
- Provide education and support to patients and families regarding labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
- Assist in emergency situations by implementing acute pain management strategies.
- Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (Cerner).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a teaching hospital setting to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in case management for patients requiring additional support services.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients by adhering to protocols in a Level I Trauma Center.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Previous experience in labor and delivery nursing is preferred.
- Familiarity with urgent care settings is advantageous.
- Experience in travel nursing may be beneficial for adaptability in various environments.
- Knowledge of hospice palliative medicine is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with an emphasis on patient education.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a compassionate demeanor.
