Job Summary:
- We have multiple shifts available. Most dog walkers work part-time.
- We service multiple areas of Winston-Salem, NC. We try to keep dog walkers working consistently in one general service area to limit driving.
- We're seeking candidates who are available at least one weekend monthly and offer holiday pay, bonuses for team goals, and opportunities to add pet sitting services.
- Our roles involve short, efficient travel and handling up to two dogs at a time, with services extended to other animals based on experience.
Weekdays:
- Morning shifts are from 6am - 2pm
- Morning shifts are from 2pm - 10pm
Weekends:
- Variable services from 6am to 10pm.
Responsibilities:
- Drive to and from client appointments following a set schedule. This may include driving traffic in rainy and snowy conditions.
- Walk dogs for at least 15 minutes per session. Most dog walking services are scheduled for 30 minutes. We walk outdoors in all four seasons.
- Adhere to client and management instructions. Some pets require special feeding instructions and medications.
- Communicate regularly with clients, staff, and management via phone, message, and in-person meetings.
- Manage dog walking schedules with industry software, which requires a dog walker to have access to a modern smartphone.
Ideal Candidate:
- Prior professional or volunteer animal care. Candidates, at minimum, must have previous personal experience as a pet owner.
- Passion for dogs and other animals. Our clients rely on Winston-Salem Dog Care to provide enriching experiences, improving the health and lives of the pets in our care.
- Strong problem-solving ability. After training, dog walkers work independently. Critical thinking is an essential part of this position.
- Excellent time management. Dog walkers can’t arrive late when feedings and medications are time-sensitive.
- Candidates with flexible schedules are preferred. Dog walking and pet sitting schedules can change week to week based on client demand.
