JOB TITLE: Building Maintenance Technician
STATUS: Regular, Full-Time, Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager
SCHEDULE: Varies, 40 hours per week
DEPARTMENT: Mission (75%); Administration (25%)

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Building Maintenance Technician will collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure the ongoing upkeep and preventive maintenance of the entire WSRM campus, encompassing buildings and grounds.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively engage in maintaining safety standards at WSRM and complete necessary documentation.
- Address work orders promptly based on priority levels and document completion accurately.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on WSRM facilities, including tasks like carpentry, electrical work, painting, safety measures, and locksmith duties.
- Ensure facilities are well-maintained and compliant with OSHA regulations.
- Implement a preventive maintenance schedule for equipment and facilities while conducting routine inspections of fire safety equipment.
- Service and repair property, equipment, and machinery such as sweepers, sinks, lighting fixtures, air conditioners, etc., or coordinate with external service providers.
- Collaborate with residents in work therapy programs focusing on character-building and work ethic development.
- Adhere to health and safety inspection schedules for facilities and residential units.
- Communicate maintenance material needs to the Maintenance Supervisor for procurement.
- Assist contractors and service personnel as needed while providing guidance to client helpers and volunteers.
- Respond to emergency calls promptly.
- Support snow removal efforts when required.
- Attend meetings and fulfill additional duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in building maintenance, carpentry, work, and plumbing; electrical and forklift experience is advantageous.
- Possession of a current NC Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Alignment with Christian values and a ministry-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency in operating various hand tools, power tools, and shop tools safely.
- Strong knowledge of facility operations and general maintenance practices.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with others while mentoring on-the-job training.
- Excellent manual dexterity with physical capabilities to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Flexibility to work varied hours when necessary.
- Basic computer skills for documentation purposes.
- Integrity, honesty, strong work ethic, and ability to operate a box truck safely.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
- Regular interaction with individuals from diverse backgrounds including homeless populations.
- Indoor and outdoor work throughout the year regardless of weather conditions.
- Exposure to dust, odors, noise, fumes.
