Position Overview

Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a dedicated campus advocate, advisor and liaison for WSSU Greek Life Co-Curricular Engagement, and Education. The Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) Coordinator is responsible for the oversight and support of fraternities and sororities within the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and the Council of Independent Greek Organizations (CIGO) on campus. This role is integral to fostering a supportive, and growth-focused environment for students affiliated with these organizations, aligning with the values and traditions of WSSU. The Coordinator will develop and implement programs, advise student leaders, and work closely with organization members to enhance the educational and leadership experiences of students involved in Greek life.

Leadership- Serve as the primary advisor for the National Pan-Hellenic Council and the Council of Independent Greek Organizations, providing mentorship, guidance, and leadership development opportunities.
Coordinate and facilitate leadership training, retreats, workshops, and individual coaching for chapter officers, council members, and advisors.
Support students in navigating issues related to identity, community, and academic success within the context of fraternity and sorority life.

Planning and Organizing:

Collaborate with student leaders to plan and execute campus-wide events and programs that promote fraternity and sorority life, cultural awareness, and community engagement.
Oversee the planning and execution of signature events such as Greek Week, Step Shows, NPHC Week, and other cultural events that foster unity and positive campus involvement.

Professional Knowledge:

Ensure that all fraternity and sorority events align with university policies, risk management standards, and best practices for student safety and inclusivity.

Ensure compliance with national organization standards, university policies, and all risk management guidelines.

Program Administration:

Cultivate an environment of inclusion and respect within Greek life by promoting unity, and cultural understanding among students that foster a sense of belonging
Support and encourage students to pursue campus leadership roles and involvement opportunities beyond Greek life.
Develop partnerships with campus offices, local organizations, and alumni to enhance resources and mentorship for Greek life members.

Work with campus security, health services, and national organizations to promote a safe environment for all fraternity and sorority events, including monitoring of membership intake processes.

Develop and enforce policies related to academic performance, behavior standards, and organizational accountability.

Data / Information Analysis / Management:

Track and evaluate fraternity and sorority membership, retention, and graduation rates, ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
Compile reports on program effectiveness, engagement metrics, and student satisfaction to inform ongoing improvements.
Utilize feedback and assessment data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities within NPHC and CIGO communities.
Report findings to stakeholders as appropriate

Business Administration:

Assist in managing budgets for NPHC and CIGO-related events and initiatives.
Represent the Fraternity and Sorority Life Office in campus committees and external meetings, promoting the visibility and mission of the program.
Support additional initiatives within the Office of Student Affairs as needed.

Department Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Bachelor degree in Higher Education, Student Development, Counseling, or a related field.
Experience working with NPHC or culturally-based fraternities and sororities in a university setting.
Background in risk management and student conduct.
Familiarity with educational and leadership development frameworks tailored to historically underserved communities.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
This role requires a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours to attend student events and programs. The role is based primarily on campus, with occasional travel required for professional development and conferences.
