Elementary Room Teacher Assistant
We are looking for a qualified Elementary Room Teacher Assistant to help care for children 1st through 5th grade. Our mixed-age environment builds on language, mathematics, history, science, the arts, and more. Lessons are presented in small groups, and followed by independent work. This method explores the students interest and builds personal responsibility. A teacher assistant must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed for this position include CPR certification, FDLE background screening and completion of 45 hour mandated DCF child care courses within one year of employment.
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe and loving environment for students
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (reading, Montessori lessons, educational media etc.) to teach students
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Guide students to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
Skills
- 45 hour mandated DCF child care courses
- Understanding of the principles of child development and Montessori methods
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.50 per hour
