What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Assistant position at Winter Haven Oral Surgery?
Busy oral surgery practice is hiring a dental assistant, must have oral surgery experience. The assistant will aid the oral surgeon and work closely with patients to make the procedure as comfortable, and safe as possible. The dental assistant will be required to multi-task, have good communication skills, be friendly, and work efficiently with our staff in a positive manner.
Duties
- Assist the surgeon during dental procedures
- Take dental x-rays
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment
- Provide chairside assistance to the surgeon during procedures
- Take and record patients' vital signs
- Make detailed patient notes within patient’s electronic medical record
- Perform dental receptionist duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing patient records
-Communicate with referring offices
-Discharge patients after procedures
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene and pre and post-operative care
- Clean operatory after discharging their patient
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a dental assistant
- Proficiency in using dental software systems
- Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology
- Experience in taking dental x-rays
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Salary: rate negotiable according to experience
Additional requirements: Graduation from certified program required, oral surgery experience required. The assistant will be required to obtain ACLS certification. The assistant will also be required to study and pass the DAANCE (Anesthesia assistant) exam within one year of hire.
