What are the responsibilities and job description for the Floater Teacher position at Winter Park Presbyterian Church?
Purpose:
Floaters are responsible for the supervision, management and care of a class of young children and infants, though class assignments may change throughout the day. They provide a loving, nurturing, safe, stimulating, environment that promotes the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of each child. Floaters are also responsible for supporting Lead Teachers in implementing engaging activities and educational programs in accordance with the mission and vision of Winter Park Presbyterian Preschool.
Responsibilities:
- Provides additional aid and room coverage as needed for breaks, planning times, and absences
- Implements daily lesson plans and daily classroom routines, as needed, in accordance with the preschool’s curriculum and programing that stimulates all domains of each child’s development in their care
- Cleans and sanitizes equipment and toys on a daily basis in accordance with hygiene procedures and participates in maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, playgrounds and common use
- Responsible for supervision and daily class functions of a group of children, creating a warm, loving and nurturing environment
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families and other staff members
- Cultivates positive relationships with children, families, parents, staff, state licensing authorities, volunteers, and other stakeholders
- Complies with all rules, regulations, procedures and protocols of Winter Park Presbyterian Preschool and the local, state and/or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety, emergency procedures and care of children
- Maintain overall professional personal appearance
- Attend all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions, as directed by supervisor.
- Arrive to work on time and ready to go
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- One year of minimum experience in licensed early childcare facility or elementary school classroom, preferred
Licenses, Certifications and Registrations:
- Knowledge and understanding of current Florida rules and regulations, per the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) and Coalition
- Completed 45-hour training required, including Early Literacy, within DCF designated timeframe
- Maintains 10 in-service training hours annually, July through June
- CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain and maintain, updated every two years
- Must successfully pass the required criminal background checks and screenings prior to employment.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
