Job Summary: The Slope Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of mountain terrain, pertaining to both winter and summer operations, through the use of heavy equipment or other necessary tools. This position may be working with a variety of departments and on projects as needed. Winter work may involve full time slope grooming, on either swing or graveyard shifts. The Department headquarters are located in the metal shop facility. The majority of the duties will be conducted outdoors on the slopes of Big Mountain.

Job Specifications:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be authorized for WSI insurance coverage.
- Commercial driver’s license preferred.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Three years mechanical experience. Good knowledge of tools, hand, power, torches, etc.
- Welding training/experience preferred
- Qualified on operation of a snowmobile.
- Completion of “Lock out, Tag out” training class.
- Heavy equipment certification is a plus.
- Work schedules can vary from working during the day or night.
Specific Duties:
- Pre-operational inspection of equipment.
- Safe and proper warm-up, operation, and shut-down of all equipment used.
- Full time groomer operator during winter season; track-packing of snow pre-season and road plowing post-season as assigned.
- Snowmaking operations as assigned.
- Responsible for utilizing proper channels to communicate problems or unsafe objects on the hill.
- Responsible for ensuring that all reporting and log work applying to both the hill and equipment use is done accurately and completely.
- Summer trail maintenance and brushing work, including chainsaw operation.
- Assists the annual set up and take down of summer activities including but not limited to the Alpine Slide and Spider Monkey Mountain. May at times assist with project work in the Aerial Adventure Park, and on the Zip Lines.
- Snowmaking system maintenance and repair work, including heavy equipment operation and welding
- Responsible for assisting in a weed spraying and mowing program that includes documenting and mapping treated areas.
Safety & Wellness:
All team members must be on constant alert for any unsafe conditions and work behaviors. This will involve, but not be limited to, periodic inspections of work and public areas. Follow up notification will be done to correct the condition or practice at the earliest possible opportunity.
Work Environment:
- Occasional heavy physical labor including lifting, pulling, pushing, bending and climbing.
- Able to lift up to 60 pounds repetitively.
- Able to work while standing and walking for extended periods of time up to 12 hours daily.
- Able to work under varying weather conditions, often extreme in nature.
- Able to see, walk, bend, lift and climb into and around machinery.
- Able to withstand occasional vibrations, jarring, anxiety from poor visibility and constant engine noise while operating equipment.
- Able to engage in repetitive body motion involving upper body torque while shoveling snow or dirt.
- Job may require working weekends, holidays and overtime during peak demand times.
