Job Summary:
The Mechanic II position is a full journeymen level position. This position is distinguished from the Mechanic I position by the assignment of duties and ability to work in the absence of supervision. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies.
Job Relationships:
- Reports to: Vehicle Maintenance Lead Mechanic and/or Vehicle Maintenance Manager
- Employees Supervised: None
Job Specifications:
- High school diploma, trade school or GED equivalent.
- Three to five years’ experience as a mechanic required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in all aspects of vehicle operation and maintenance, knowledge should include electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and mechanical systems.
- Must be proficient at reading schematics for troubleshooting electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to weld small items.
- Ability to safely cut metal materials using torch plasma cutter or other cutting tools.
- Ability to custom fabricate parts/items as needed.
- Required to have own hand tools and toolbox.
- Must be able to operate or be trained to operate a snowmobile safely. Snowmobile operation required in varying weather to retrieve or service breakdowns.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be authorized for WSI insurance coverage.
Subject to WSI’s Alcohol and Controlled Substance Abuse Policy based on the nature of the position and related duties.
- Must be able to provide every guest with a high level of customer service at all times.
- Must be able to work within the framework of the company and department policies and procedures as set forth in the employee manuals.
- Minimum of basic computer skills
Specific Duties:
- Perform general service and repair on equipment as scheduled or directed by Vehicle Maintenance Lead Mechanic or Manager.
- Log all work on all pieces of equipment.
- Log work must be accurate and completed daily.
- Supervise unauthorized personnel while in the shop area for security purposes.
- Ensure that all tools and equipment are maintained and returned to their proper storage location.
- Access and implement preventative maintenance measures on vehicles and equipment.
- Perform duties and functions in the shop area efficiently and make safety a top priority.
- Ensure the safe and functional operation of vehicles.
- Must adhere to and promote the safety policies and procedures relating to the Vehicle Maintenance Department.
- Utilize proper safety harness procedures when working on elevated manlift platforms.
- Clean and maintain the garage area and equipment
- Thrive in an environment of constant change.
- Knowledge of safe practices of equipment and tools of the automotive and equipment repair and maintenance.
Safety & Wellness:
All team members must be on constant alert for any unsafe conditions and work behaviors. This will involve, but not be limited to, periodic inspections of work and public areas. Follow up notification will be done to correct the condition or practice at the earliest possible opportunity.
Work Environment:
- Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to 50 pounds frequently and more occasionally.
- Ability to be on one’s feet for extended time periods up to 8 hours daily.
- Must be able to access all vehicle compartments and components to perform repairs by standing, kneeling, bending, and laying in a prone position for extended periods of time.
- Ability to perform maintenance tasks in small spaces and awkward body posture on a regular basis.
- Drive company vehicles in the performance of daily duties.
- Flexibility in schedule changes on short notice is required.
- Job may require working weekends, holidays and overtime during peak demand times.
- Indoor workshop atmospheric conditions are impacted significantly by the outside weather temperatures and require adjustments to wearing of proper work clothes accordingly. Ability to work under varying weather conditions, often extreme in nature.
