JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Sales Agent, Reservations
FLSA: Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Reservations
REPORTS TO: Director of Lodging and Reservation Sales Manager

SUMMARY: This is a great opportunity for upbeat, sales-oriented individuals
. You will help a diverse group of callers plan their visits to Wintergreen and choose the best accommodations, packages, and other resort amenities for their needs. Strong applicants will have previous sales and customer-service experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to identify and maximize revenue opportunities by up-selling and cross-selling the resort. Compensation includes hourly wage plus commission and recreation benefits.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Training
    • Training schedule is Monday-Friday 9 am-5 pm; may be flexible
    • Initial training takes 2-4 weeks depending on candidates skills and experience
    • Compensation during training is hourly wage only
    • After initial training is complete, agent will begin taking sales calls and commission* opportunity begins
    • Hands-on training continues with agent taking sales calls while improving knowledge and skills
    • 4-6 weeks after hire, it is expected that agent can work independently and will transition to his/her fixed schedule
  • Schedule after training
    • 25-32 hours per week
    • Multiple shifts available, examples are:
      • Monday-Friday 4 p.m. till 9 p.m.
      • Friday-Sunday 8 a.m. till 6 p.m.
      • Saturday – Tuesday 9 a.m. till 5 p.m.
      • NOTE: there are no schedules available for Monday-Friday day time only
    • Candidate must be available to work consistently through early-March without significant time off, any known needs for time off during this period must be disclosed during screening/interview process
  • Excel at customer service and fluid verbal communication skills
  • Be motivated to work independently
  • Have the motivation to sell the resort in line with customer specifications
  • Possess problem solving skills
  • Have an open mind with the will to learn quickly
  • Be “search-engine” and internet savvy
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Basic record-keeping and report-writing including budgets,


Skill & Abilities in:

  • The Sales Agent is responsible for answering calls and inquiries from potential customers.
  • Using a proven sales lead technique the Agent will determine the caller’s needs and expectations.
  • Will respond with appropriate questions and information hopefully resulting in a booking.
  • When appropriate the Agent will make outbound calls to customer leads, but only to leads who have first contacted Wintergreen (no cold calling).
  • Reservations agents are booking lodging and packages with lodging, also golf tee times and spa services.
  • The Agent will use two primary software systems to properly complete the booking process: NAVIS (sales lead system) and Springer-Miller HOST (property management system).
  • Computer and typing skills necessary, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Springer Miller experience preferred.


Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:

  • High school diploma OR GED.

  • Primarily a work from home position. May be required to be onsite for various meetings and training.
