The Winterville Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to promoting excellence in both business and community. Our mission is to unite local businesses to make a greater impact on the community they serve and to improve the overall quality of life in Winterville. We are a small team with big ambitions, and we are looking for an enthusiastic intern to help us achieve our goals.
Position Overview:
This internship is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in their chosen field, including digital marketing, entrepreneurship, graphic design, journalism, management, event management, and more. It can also be a unique role that gives the opportunity to try a variety of different potential career paths to help you choose the appropriate field for you.
The role is flexible and can be tailored to the strengths and interests of the applicant. Given the nature of the unpaid position, expectations will be negotiated according to the applicants’ work and school schedule. As an intern, you will directly report to our Executive Director. Attendance of events and engagement with the membership will be preferred, as this is how the applicant will maximize on the benefits of the internship.
Choosing one to two responsibilities depending on the applicant’s goals and strengths:
- Assist in managing and creating content for social media platforms.
- Write articles and other content for our newsletter and website blog.
- Support event planning and management, including coordination and marketing.
- Provide administrative support, including data entry and organization.
- Design flyers, graphics, and other promotional materials.
- Facilitate networking opportunities and member engagement.
- Assist with the creation and implementation of new programs and initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program (preferred fields: Marketing, Business, Graphic Design, Journalism, Communications, Event Planning or related areas).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Flexibility and willingness to take on a variety of tasks.
- Ability and willingness to meet new people, network, and represent the Winterville Chamber of Commerce appropriately and professionally.
