Job Description
The Material Handler is responsible for safely carrying out the work assignments received from the Distribution Center Manager or Lead. Primary responsibilities include fabrication, wire rope handling, cutting, packaging, and shipment preparation.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspect and verify incoming and outgoing materials; locate reels as needed. Cut and handle rope for shipment or fabrication according to specifications. Operate rewinding machines, spool, and coil various sizes of rope and strand to meet customer orders.
- Conduct quality inspections on rope, collaborating with others to load and unload trucks, and assemble reels.
- Prepare reels and coils for shipment, including labeling, tagging, and completing shipping documentation.
- Manage strand and wire rope of varying diameters and lengths on reels or in coils, including empty or unassembled reels, paper lagging strips, tags, seizing wire, blocking, and thimbles.
- Use tools like saws, lasers, and presses to cut or shape materials to required dimensions.
- Assemble parts using techniques like welding, bolting, or riveting to ensure proper construction.
- Select and prepare materials - metals, plastics, composites - for the fabrication, coating, or surface enhancement (e.g., painting, polishing).

- A high school diploma or GED
- Ability to learn all processes and show competency
Materials and Equipment Directly Used
- Personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed safety shoes
- Rewinding machines, stanchions, shafts, collars, bushings, rope cutters, measuring devise, fork trucks, banding equipment, welders, various hand tools
- Standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer, mouse, keyboard, telephone, fax, calculator, multifunction copier
