Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive cash flow analyses to support day-to-day financial operations and strategic planning
- Monitor budget performance and analyze variances, identifying potential shortfalls and recommending corrective measures
- Develop detailed short-term and long-term financial forecasts to assist in decision-making and resource planning
- Collaborate with department heads to develop, adjust, and monitor budgetary needs and funding requests
- Prepare and present financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Evaluate and strengthen internal financial controls, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
- Advise on financial risk management and opportunities to enhance financial stability
- Provide support during audits, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards
- Active CPA license required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in public sector accounting, preferably within large government agencies
- Proven experience in budget management, cash flow analysis, and financial forecasting
- Strong understanding of GAAP, GASB, and public sector financial regulations; familiarity with State of Florida accounting systems is preferred
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
- Proficiency in financial management software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience working with large budgets in a healthcare or public health setting
- Familiarity with state and federal funding mechanisms and grant management
- Strong organizational and project management abilities
