Responsibilities:
- Identify and resolve data quality issues
- Work to onboard new facilities and feeds
- Manage metadata
- Work with external partners.
- Attend, participate, and lead Merlin development meetings
- Learn and apply new techniques for data management and visualization
- Provide technical assistance, consultative services, and direction for development, implementation, evaluation and expansion of infectious diseases and other diseases and conditions of public health significance data sources within the Merlin, ELR, and FRANK systems
- Design and compile reports, including routine and ad hoc reports for staff at national, state, and local level and the public
- Write grants and other funding-associated language
- Update surveillance materials and guidance
- Perform any additional tasks to support the Department, including response activities
- One year of experience working in infectious disease surveillance and surveillance systems out of the last five years
- One year of experience working with electronic medical records using the Health Level 7 (HL7) messaging standard
- One year of experience working with hospital medical records and records management systems
- One year of experience performing ELR validation and quality assurance tasks
- Two years of experience in the last five years working with the Microsoft Office Suite; including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook and PowerPoint
- One year of experience with a statistical analysis software package such as SQL, R, SAS or SPSS in the last five years
- Two years of experience performing SQL queries and utilizing SAS to organize information into reports and interpret findings
- Completion of one graduate level biostatistics course
- Completion of two graduate level public health courses in the last five years
