Economics Instructor (FT, VLD)
CAMPUS: Valdosta Campus STATUS: Full-time POSTING TYPE: Regular Posting
Under general supervision, will provide instruction to students in Economics courses on the Valdosta Campus and at high
schools in our service area as required; prepare lesson plans for classroom and online instruction for credited arts and
sciences courses; develop program curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives; and evaluate students’ progress in attaining
goals and objectives. Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports; attend professional
development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences; ensure safety and security requirements are met in the
discipline area; meet with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional
programs and other issues; assist with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.

SUMMARY OF WORKING CONDITIONS
- Equipment Used: Standard office equipment.
- Working Conditions: Category III - No foreseen exposure to hazardous chemicals/pathogens. Probability of
working beyond the normal shift, but not frequently. Periodic travel between major Wiregrass campuses and
satellite sites.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree in Economics or Master's Degree with 18 graduate hours in Economics* from an academic institution that
is accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. Excellent
verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills.
*Education courses related to the teaching subject are not considered discipline specific in meeting this
requirement. Coursework must be in the subject area or a closely related discipline aligned to course
competencies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
In addition to meeting all other minimum qualifications, the highly desired candidate will possess one or more of the
following: Master's Degree in Economics. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills.
SALARY/BENEFITS
Salary is $52,000/yr. This position is full‐time and includes standard State of GA benefits such as leave accrual, options
for health & other supplemental benefits, and retirement. This position may qualify the successful candidate for the Public
Service Loan Forgiveness Program. This position is funded in whole or in part by State/Local/Tuition funds.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS
Pursuant to college policy, a thorough background investigation, including a criminal history records check and
employment history reference checks will be performed for all candidates offered employment. Other checks such as
Motor Vehicle Records may be conducted for any candidate receiving an offer, as well as internal candidates prior to
being promoted or transferred into a position with the college. Other Required Tests: No additional tests are required for
this position.
