Human Resources, Career and Employer Services Specialist (FT, VLD)

Responsible for providing administrative and technical support to the Human Resources, Career and Employer Services
Department of the college to include: processing onboarding documents, creating personnel files and maintaining files as
per HR guidelines; assist with processing background checks including but not limited to criminal history checks, driver
history checks, credit checks distributing, tracking, and communicating with employees and supervisors concerning
employee inventory status including name badges, keys, picture id badges and parking decals; serves as primary
reception for the Human Resources Suite on the Valdosta Campus; operates a busy multi-line telephone console for the
departments; accurately and with a customer service focus responds to incoming inquiries both verbal and written;
assists with processing and sorting incoming and outgoing mail for the Valdosta Campus; completing tasks and
assignments associated with other departmental personnel support functions (p-card purchases, purchase orders, travel
arrangements, expense statements, vehicle requests etc.); providing data entry and account maintenance in various
systems and databases; attending Career Services events, works with Student Engagement and Employee Engagement
to schedule events, and schedules employer spotlights. Other duties may be assigned according to department need.

SUMMARY OF WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, Various types of advanced computer equipment, Various types of
in-field related equipment.
  • Working Conditions: Category III - No foreseen exposure to hazardous chemicals/pathogens. Very little probability
of working beyond the normal shift. Periodic travel between major Wiregrass campuses and satellite sites.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's Degree *and* Three (3) years of related work experience. **Note: Experience may substitute for the
degree on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
In addition to meeting all other minimum qualifications, the highly desired candidate will possess one or more of the

following: prior experience working in human resources or career services, or prior executive level administrative assistant
experience.



SALARY/BENEFITS
Salary is $39,000/yr. This position is full‐time and includes standard State of GA benefits such as leave accrual, options
for health & other supplemental benefits, and retirement. This position may qualify the successful candidate for the Public
Service Loan Forgiveness Program. This position is funded in whole or in part by State/Local/Tuition funds.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS
Pursuant to college policy, a thorough background investigation, including a criminal history records check and
employment history reference checks will be performed for all candidates offered employment. Other checks such as
Motor Vehicle Records may be conducted for any candidate receiving an offer, as well as internal candidates prior to
being promoted or transferred into a position with the college. Other Required Tests: No additional tests are required
for this position.

Should a candidate be chosen for a 2nd interview, references which support prior work history and employment
experience will be contacted. Please note that some employers charge a processing fee to complete employment
verifications. If a former employer requires payment to complete employment verification forms, this fee must be paid by
the candidate. For positions requiring official transcripts, the candidate will be responsible for ordering and payment for
these transcripts. Wiregrass is responsible for payments for criminal history searches, MVR searches, credit checks, and
other items listed in the required tests portion above.
