Employment Specialist
Position Type: Full-time, Exempt
Salary: $50K Base Travel Allowance
Position Summary:
Are you passionate about helping individuals with disabilities achieve meaningful employment? We are seeking an Employment Specialist to join our team, leveraging skills in coaching, training, and advocacy to connect individuals with disabilities to community-based jobs.
This full-time role offers a semi-flexible schedule and requires hands-on engagement in job development, training, and ongoing support. The Employment Specialist will be the primary contact for Vocational Rehabilitation counselors and serve as a key resource in guiding individuals toward successful, sustained employment.
This position reports to the VP of Workforce Development or a designated leader.
Ideal Candidates Have Experience In:
✔ Job Coaching – Working one-on-one with individuals to develop workplace skills
✔ Special Education – Supporting individuals with diverse learning needs in vocational settings
✔ Human Resources – Talent placement, employee training, and workforce development
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Employment & Job Coaching:
- Guide individuals through job application, interview preparation, and workplace integration
- Provide on-the-job coaching to ensure success in competitive employment
- Analyze job duties and develop task breakdowns for effective learning
- Model professional workplace behavior and facilitate social interaction with coworkers
✔ Collaboration & Case Management:
- Act as the primary liaison between Vocational Rehabilitation counselors, employers, and families
- Maintain thorough case records and reports, ensuring compliance with funding and licensing requirements
- Coordinate communication with case managers, guardians, and agencies supporting individuals
✔ Training & Support:
- Deliver customized job training to individuals based on their service plans and work schedules
- Educate individuals on appropriate workplace behaviors, dress, and social norms
- Address safety concerns and assist with job-related physical or behavioral needs
✔ Professional Development & Compliance:
- Stay current on supported employment best practices through workshops and training
- Ensure compliance with GVRA policies, Universal Precautions, and agency procedures

Qualifications:
✔ Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Social Work, Counseling, HR, or related field (OR 4 years of relevant experience in place of a degree)
✔ Experience in job coaching, vocational training, workforce development, or disability services (preferred)
✔ Knowledge of the labor market, community services, and disability employment strategies (preferred)
✔ Valid Georgia driver’s license and reliable transportation
✔ Ability to pass a Level 2 Background Check
