Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of Wirtgen construction machinery and equipment.
Disassemble and reassemble machinery and equipment components as necessary for repair and maintenance.
Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical issues and determine appropriate solutions.
Follow safety protocols and procedures while working in the shop and handling machinery.
Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used.
Collaborate with the Shop Supervisor and other technicians to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks.
Assist in the training and mentoring of new technicians as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are stored properly.
Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding the status of repairs and any challenges encountered.
Stay updated on Wirtgen products and industry trends to enhance skills and knowledge.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in diesel mechanics, automotive technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a mechanical repair or technician role, preferably in the construction equipment industry.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in construction machinery.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and machinery repair techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to adapt to new technologies and continuous learning.
Physical Demands:
- Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and reach; must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Use of hands and fingers for handling tools and equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Work Environment:
- Primarily works in a shop environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- May require occasional overtime or weekend work based on workload and project deadlines.
