Job Description: The Manager of Quality and Reliability is a highly visible and critical leadership role and is responsible for delivering high levels of customer satisfaction, product quality and service quality. As a member of our team designing Rf module products for digital wireless audio, the Manager of Quality and Reliability will be a dynamic, hands-on change maker and instill a culture of quality throughout the company, including a strong focus on prevention and a continuous improvement mindset. As a senior member of the Operations team, they will have an opportunity to make a significant impact on the company’s business results and overall success.
The Manager of Quality and Reliability plans, organizes, implements and administers the reliability program to ensure the delivery of quality products on schedule and within economic parameters. Directs a range of Quality & Reliability functions including reliability testing, reliability data collection and analysis as well as directs, leads and manages the technical activities for the quality and reliability group function. Understands all aspects of the product life cycle, including engineering, design, manufacturing and end-of-life. Ability to manage and develop a team. The position reports to the Vice President of Operations.
The Manager of Quality and Reliability works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible factors. Exercises judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of functional, division, or company operations. Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers. Interactions normally involve controversial situations, customer negotiations, or influencing and persuading other senior level managers.
Additional responsibilities include software tool definitions, system level test specifications, vendor quality management, and defining, developing, documenting and maintaining processes, and procedures for all aspect of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and executing reliability qualification and regular reliability monitoring testing of Summit Wireless Technology’s products including writing qualification plans, executing the tests, analyzing the test data, and writing/updating qualification reports;
- Drive regulatory compliance (FCC, EU, RoHS, CMRT, FormSD, etc...);
- Develop, implement and monitor cross-organizational processes and procedures to achieve ISO 9001 certification;
- Act as primary customer and vendor contact for all Quality and Reliability issues for all products including PCN change management, quality/reliability inquires, questionnaires and technical support; Communicate with customers verbally and in writing on a technical level to discuss reliability and failure issues;
- Act as primary customer and administrator for all Datavault testing and compliance requests. Coordinate and track compliance testing, inform customers of test results and issue certifications.
- Coordinate customer and vendor failure returns (RMA); receive, track, complete failure analysis, provide 8D reports, maintain technical database, and close open issues;
- Responsible for IQC and OQC monitoring, inspections, reports and resolutions;
- Coordinate, manage and report on the company’s safety committee;
- Support new product design activities including design reviews;
- Performs other duties as assigned;
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics
- 8 years of experience in semiconductor or PCBA Quality and/or Operations such as Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering or Supply Chain;
- Experience in applying Quality Control methods (SPC, DOE, FMEA, Six Sigma, etc) plus ISO 9001 and TS16949 Quality Management systems
- Must be a strong team player, detail oriented, proactive, self-driven, and results-oriented
- Must be a hands-on technical leader
- Ability to make sound quality decisions
- Capable of successfully managing multiple complex tasks
- Must be able to view problems on a broad/holistic base
- Experience with semiconductor and/or PCBA module reliability evaluation and testing requirements
- Good understanding of manufacturing process technology for semiconductor devices and/or module manufacturing
- Experience facilitating communication between both domestic and foreign customers and manufacturing vendors both written and orally
- Experience as the company’s representative for all reliability matters to both foreign and domestic customers
- PC skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and statistical tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced high-pressure environment with tight deadline requirements
- Experience with Conflict Minerals (CMRT, CMR, Form SD), RoHS, halogen-free, IPC 610 and JEITA;
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation and project/program management skills, manage multiple projects simultaneously, leadership skills and perform well under pressure;
- Willing to travel to Asia, Europe, and North America;
