Description
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Process Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Process Engineer will be responsible for the continual improvement of foundry processes, focusing on safety, quality, and productivity. The ideal candidate will have a background in LPM (Low Pressure Molding), aluminum melt/metallurgy, and heat treat processes and be able to leverage data-driven insights to optimize, maintain, and improve processes for high-quality parts production. You will collaborate closely with multiple departments to ensure that the best foundry processes are adhered to, driving improvements across all operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Execute Continuous Process Improvement: Manage and complete improvement projects aimed at enhancing foundry processes to positively impact safety, quality, and productivity.
- Problem Resolution: Lead process-based troubleshooting efforts to resolve issues in day-to-day foundry operations.
- Collaboration with Design Engineering: Partner with design engineering to identify and resolve equipment and tooling-related issues, improving process efficiency and product quality.
- Develop & Document Operating Instructions: Create and maintain detailed operating procedures that ensure consistent process control and standards across all foundry operations.
- Process Monitoring and Optimization: Work closely with production teams to ensure daily production runs meet key parameters such as cycle times, product quality, and scrap rates, continuously optimizing efficiency.
- Operator Education & Training: Provide training and guidance to process operators on proper procedures and best practices, reinforcing process control and enhancing overall operational efficiency.
Working Conditions:
- Will have regular exposure to foundry environment including dust, heat, fumes and noise.
Education and/or Experience Expected:
- High school degree or GED is required; engineering degree is preferred. Must have three years of foundry experience directly related to molding and process engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in molding process problem solving in a foundry environment.
- Experience in the reduction of foundry process scrap.
- Experience in delivering continuous improvement projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience/background with LPM and Aluminum melt/metallurgy and heat treat processes.
- Aluminum foundry experience.
- Six Sigma methodology experience.
- Foundry automation experience.
- Experience in tooling, core make and post molding processes (heat treatment, de-core, finishing).
