Wisconsin Building Supply operates locations throughout Wisconsin supplying windows, doors, roofing, siding, millwork, lock hardware, columns, trim, mouldings, cabinetry, countertops, decking, railing, gypsum, lumber & plywood, insulation, and other building materials.A Brief OverviewThe Estimator uses computer technology and mathematical skill to prepare an estimation of the amount of material needed for the construction of a home in accordance with Company policies.What you will do

  • Estimate the amount of materials needed for home construction according to company policy and local building code.
  • Assist salesmen as needed with customer orders and materials lists.
  • Assist in trim take-offs as requested.
  • Provide assistance to contractors as needed.
  • Train sales representatives in estimating techniques.
  • Assist sales staff with blueprint reading and construction procedures.
  • Review actual vs. estimated materials on completion of each project.
  • Work on sales / hardware counter as assigned.
  • Control expenditures to conform to company budgetary requirements.
  • Comply with Company's attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.Required For All Jobs
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
  • Adheres to Company's commitment to workplace safety.Education Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in engineering or related area required.Experience Qualifications
  • 1-3 years construction and building materials related experience required.Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to read blueprints and other technical materials.
  • Ability to interpret building plans in diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to operate networked computer systems and specialized software application programs and to instruct others in effective use of application software.
  • Must have excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.
