Position Type:    Part Time
Salary Range:    $33.00 - $51.00 Hourly

Description

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

Provide high-quality music education in areas of specialization for the Milwaukee area and surrounding counties, serving the WCM mission: Inspiring individuals and communities through exceptional music education accessible to all.

  • Provide 34 weeks of teaching total during the Fall and Spring semesters and eight weeks of teaching during the Summer semester.

  • General Music and Community Partnerships Faculty teach 28-36 weeks in school programs, including private, public, charter, and choice schools.

  • Part-time positions range from 3 to 25 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible.

  • Attend faculty meetings and professional development sessions. Other opportunities for professional development are regularly provided.

  • Lead ensembles in area of expertise as assigned.

  • Performance opportunities for select faculty are available and will be compensated per service. 

  • Recruit for Conservatory programs. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Wisconsin Conservatory of Music

The Wisconsin Conservatory of Music is the state's largest non-profit community music school. Founded in 1899, the Conservatory is committed to providing musical education to individuals of all abilities, ranging from four months to senior citizens. The Conservatory works to develop creative, artistic, and whole individuals. The Conservatory annually reaches over 17,000 individuals across southeast Wisconsin through individual lessons, classes, and Community Partnerships. The Community Partnerships outreach program is the primary tool used by the Conservatory to reach underserved populations in southeastern Wisconsin. Without dedicated faculty serving this population, many of these students would not have access to music instruction.

Qualifications


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in music education or performance, or 3 to 5 years of teaching experience.
  • For Community Partnerships teaching: 1 to 5 years of classroom and/or student teaching experience is preferred. A background in general, instrumental, and/or choral music is preferred.
  • Certified and bilingual music educators are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Experience leading groups of children (in classrooms, youth groups, community organizations, camps, childcare facilities, etc.).

An individual with the necessary related experience will join a faculty team committed to providing all members of society access to the highest level of music education. The successful candidate must show exceptional maturity and leadership and an ability to effectively communicate and follow the Conservatory's mission and the policies of the President and Board of Directors.
