Job Overview :
The Construction Drafter is responsible for creating detailed drawings and plans for construction projects using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software. This role involves working closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to produce accurate technical drawings and ensure designs comply with project specifications and codes. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Drafting & Design :
- Create detailed drawings, plans, and blueprints for construction projects, including structural, architectural, and mechanical designs.
- Translate conceptual designs into accurate technical drawings using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks.
- Revise drawings based on feedback from architects, engineers, and project managers.
Collaboration & Communication :
Work closely with architects, engineers, and other team members to gather design requirements and ensure alignment with project goals.Communicate effectively with the project team to resolve design issues and incorporate necessary changes.Coordinate with subcontractors or vendors to ensure drawings meet material and fabrication specifications.Quality Control & Compliance :
Ensure all drawings comply with local, state, and national building codes, as well as project specifications.Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency in all designs and technical documents.Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, and project documentation.Project Support :
Assist in preparing project documentation, including design layouts, material takeoffs, and as-built drawings.Support project managers and site supervisors by providing updated drawings as construction progresses.Contribute to design modifications or improvements to optimize project efficiency and cost-effectiveness.Qualifications and Skills :
Experience :Minimum of 4 years of experience as a drafter or designer in the construction industry.Experience with residential, commercial, or industrial construction projects is preferred.Technical Skills :Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks.Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction plans.Problem-Solving & Attention to Detail :Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address design challenges effectively.High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all drafting tasks.Communication Skills :Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders.Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.Organizational Skills :Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong organizational skills to maintain detailed and accurate project documentation.Education & Certifications :
Associate degree in drafting, design technology, or a related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred.Certification in CAD software or drafting is a plus.Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modeling) is an advantage.Benefits :
