The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Buildings and Grounds Superintendent position. This position is based out of Chippewa Valley Correctional Treatment Facility in Chippewa Falls, WI.

Position Summary
This position will plan and direct the institution building and grounds maintenance program and coordinate building construction/remodeling projects with the Department of Administration (DOA), Division of Facilities Development (DFD). Responsibilities include maintaining buildings, property, equipment, and service systems in a safe and reliable operating condition through the supervision of subordinate staff. This position works with the Warden, Deputy Warden, and Correctional Management Services Director (CMSD) to develop the biennial budget, capital budget request and the Department of Corrections six-year building project plan; conducts inspections, develops project requests, and makes reports; acts as administrative duty officer as directed by the Warden, and performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule/range 81-03 with an annual salary of $55889 - $92206 plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the State Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Job Details
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
This position is not eligible for remote work.
Shift: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:
- Planning and directing buildings and grounds operations
- Leadership or supervisory role (e.g. training, assigning and reviewing work, interviewing applicants, providing performance feedback, etc.)
- Managing or leading a preventative maintenance program
In addition to the above, well qualified applicant will have experience:
- Developing and managing repair and/or construction projects
- Interpreting and applying state and Federal codes and standards
- Managing and oversite of complex building systems such as heating, cooling, refrigeration, electrical, fire prevention, etc.
- Management of budget and resources of a larger scale project or organization.
