Position Summary: Probation and Parole Agents are responsible for enforcing departmental rules, Wisconsin Statutes and conditions of probation and parole to protect the public and to provide services to rehabilitate offenders. Conduct investigations; develop, implement, and monitor offender case plans; conduct home visits; issue apprehension requests; locate, detain, and transport offenders who have violated conditions of supervision; conduct searches and seize contraband; collect urine samples for drug assessment; provide counseling; prepare written reports and maintain records. Provide surveillance of offenders through frequent contacts and electronic monitoring; respond to violations appropriately.
Special Notes: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment. Applicants who fail or refuse the drug screen will not be given further consideration for employment.
Qualifications: Minimally qualified applicants for either level Probation and Parole Agent will have education, training and/or experience related to evidence-based practices, social work methods, case management techniques, assessing needs, interviewing, counseling and treatment techniques, victims' issues; criminal justice system; case planning; cultural awareness; family dynamics; effective oral and written communication skills; and problem identification and resolution techniques
In addition, minimally qualified applicants for the senior level position will have: Three or more years of experience in probation/parole placing correctional clients in detention including arrest, custody and transportation, case management and case planning, and applying Evidence Based Practices with persons on a caseload.

Pay: $22.51 - $26.33 per hour
