The Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Enterprise Services (DES), is recruiting to fill an Administrative Assistant for the Office of Facilities, Safety, & Risk Management, Mailroom and Forms Center.
This position is headquartered in the 1 West Wilson Street office in the heart of downtown Madison, near the State Capital, the Madison Metro route, and the Capital City bike path. This position will work in the office from 7:45am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Position Summary
Salary Information
The starting pay is $20.02 per hour plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as an Office Operations Associate and is in pay schedule and range 02/10.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
This position requires the ability to lift and move heavy objects weighing up to 53 lbs. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
**This position requires the ability to drive a State vehicle. In order to become authorized to drive a State vehicle, you must meet the requirements for the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle policy, which are:
- Must have a valid driver's license;
- Must have minimum of two years licensed driving experience;
- Must be 18 years of age.
Additionally, your driving record MUST NOT reflect any of the following conditions:
- Three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two years;
- Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)/Driving Under the Influence (DUI) citation within the past 12 months;
- Suspension or revocation of driver's license.
Qualifications
At a minimum, you’ll need both of the following:
- Experience using computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Peoplesoft, etc.) to perform duties such as data entry, report production, responding to emails, and/or document creation.
- Experience providing customer service to internal and external partners (e.g., responding to questions, explaining policies and procedures, resolving issues, etc.) by phone, email, and/or in person.
It’d be great if you also have at least one of the following:
- Training or experience working with state of Wisconsin shipping and receiving process.
- Training or experience working with warehouse operations, inventory management, or mail process and equipment.
