Introduction
Winnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI), located near Oshkosh Wisconsin, is looking to hire a Primary Care Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) to work 8:00am – 4:00pm Monday – Friday. WMHI is a part of the Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS) and is a psychiatric hospital providing quality mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults.

Position Summary
As a Primary Care APNP, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Managing all urgent care conditions and chronic diseases for patients admitted to WMHI.
- Providing on-call support to the nurses and psychiatrists at WMHI during regular business hours. Calls include giving medical advice over the phone, but also may involve seeing WMHI patients during regular business hours.
- Coordinating medical care between interdisciplinary team members and communicates with Emergency Departments if the patient requires transfer for ongoing medical care.
Salary Information
The starting pay is between $61.00 to $63.98 per hour (approximately between $126,900 and $133,100 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber and is in pay schedule and range 11/01.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by the facility or medical personnel directed by the facility prior to their start date.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
- License or eligible for license as an APNP by the State of Wisconsin. Eligible includes currently registered as an APNP in another state and are eligible to obtain licensure in WI OR you are within 3 months of graduation from a professional APNP program. License must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
- Training or experience managing chronic medical conditions.
- Training or experience working with Electronic Health Record software for documentation and patient care.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience working with patients with mental health and substance abuse issues.
- Experience providing medical care and medical clearance independently.
- Experience working with the Electronic Health Record software Cerner.
