Introduction
The Department of Health Services (DHS) Southern Wisconsin Center (SWC) is recruiting for a Nursing Supervisor.
This position works 10-hour shifts (0530 - 1600 and every other weekend). Selected candidate must be able to work PMs, NOCs, and additional weekends based on the needs of the facility.

SWC is a state run, licensed and certified Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ICF/IDD). Position Summary
As a Nursing Supervisor, you will be responsible for professional nursing and administrative work on a center wide basis in the management and supervision of an assigned shift.
Responsibilities include:
- Serving as Administrator in charge of the Center, assuming responsibility for all staff and activities, noting and resolving problems, maintaining continuity of all necessary services on all shifts.
- Responsible for the provision of direct client services including directing staff in emergency situations; obtaining and transcribing medical orders; contacting and assessing all clients to ensure needs are being met; and performing direct care activities
- Planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating and directly supervising RNs and LPNs.
Salary Information
The starting salary is between $58.48 and 63.11 per hour (approximately between $121,600 and $131,200 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 50/11.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 55 lbs, standing and walking on hard surfaces, kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching, squatting, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs and twisting. A physical assessment may be required prior to hire.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all the following:
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse and eligible to practice in the State of Wisconsin. Eligible is defined as you currently hold licensure in another state and are eligible to obtain a license in the State of Wisconsin. License in Wisconsin must be obtained by time of appointment.
- Experience working as a RN performing direct care activities.
- Experience serving in a leadership role, performing tasks such as coaching, training, and guiding other staff, etc.
- Experience responding during emergency medical situations.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Formal supervisory experience. This includes tasks such as conducting performance evaluations, hiring, discipline, assigning/reviewing work, scheduling staff, etc.
- Experience working as the Administrator in charge in a healthcare facility overseeing Federal and State policies and procedures related health care facilities.
- Possesses a bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing or related healthcare field.
