Introduction
Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) within the Department of Health Services (DHS) is recruiting to fill a Psychiatric Care Supervisor position in Mauston, WI.
SRSTC opened in 2001 and provides care and treatment for several different patient populations. The center houses Wisconsin’s Sexually Violent Persons Program, provides care and treatment for persons found not guilty by reasons of mental disease or mental defect, and provides court ordered treatment, testing, and education to patients found not competent to stand trial. SRSTC is a 500-bed treatment facility and is part of the Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS). Watch this video to learn more about the work of DCTS.

Position Summary
As a Psychiatric Care Supervisor, you will be responsible for:
- Shift management of operations and the implementation of treatment plans.
- Managing therapeutic activities for patients and/or patient groups.
- Participating in the development of treatment plans, program and unit rules, policies, and procedures.
- Supervising assigned Psychiatric Care Technicians-Advanced (PCTs) which includes counseling and evaluating performance of staff and coordinating schedules and duties.
- Assuring performance of security related tasks, functions, and responsibilities necessary to maintaining a clean, safe, and secure environment in accordance with federal, state, DHS and SRSTC policies and procedures.
- Assisting with direct patient care and performing additional duties as assigned.
Salary Information
The starting salary is between $44.88 - $47.41 per hour (approximately $93,300-$98,600 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
The pay schedule and range is 81/33. Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.
Job Details
- All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
- All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility after their start date. Due to the nature of these positions, individuals will be required to complete a physical ability verification. This includes but not limited to lifting a minimum of 30 lbs., squat, kneel, utilize stairs, drag up to 90 lbs., walk and run 200 meter distance.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
- Experience in a leadership role (e.g., coaching, delegating tasks and/or responsibilities, training, etc.).
- Experience providing psychiatric care and/or security to inmates/patients with behavior disorders, mental illness or developmental disabilities.
- Successful completion of the Academic Training Academy provided by the Department of Corrections Correctional Training Center, DHS Training Center, or equivalent.
- Experience participating on an interdisciplinary team and/or participating in treatment planning for inmates/patients.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience in a formal supervisory role (e.g., evaluating staff performance, hiring, disciplining, scheduling assignments, enforcing policies, etc.).
- Experience working effectively with a multi-cultural, multi-ethic population.
- Experience responding to emergency situations.
