The Department of Health Services (DHS), Southern Wisconsin Center (SWC) is recruiting for a Psychological Services Assistant which will work from 7:45am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday.

SWC is a state run, licensed and certified Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ICF/IDD). Position Summary
As the Psychological Services Assistant, you will work with the Psychological Associates and Psychologist to obtain assessment information for adaptive behavior ratings, functional behavioral assessment, and observational data that assists in cognitive and behavioral screenings. This position requires working knowledge of psychological theory and intervention and works under the professional supervision of the Institution Treatment Director. Duties include:
- Providing “hands on” replacement behavior training.
- Training direct care staff in plan application.
- Collecting skills and interventions data.
- Interpreting the data with visuals, utilizing Microsoft excel and other software.
- Creating visual aids for interventions.
- Implementing Individualized Service Plans (ISPs).
- Providing competency-based training of other Resident Care Technicians on the elements of ISPs.
The Psychological Services Assistant also participates in interdisciplinary meetings and review sessions to determine whether plan modifications are needed.
Salary Information
The starting pay is $25.00-$30.00 per hour (approximately $52,000-$62,400 per year) depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 12/64.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting/ carrying up to 55 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 200 lbs occasionally (e.g. wheelchairs, carts, etc.), bending, kneeling, stooping, standing, and walking on hard tile floors for extended periods of time. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
- Experience with data entry and data sorting using Microsoft Excel or similar software.
- Experience measuring, interpreting, and collecting data from interactions or observations.
- Experience interacting with individuals who have developmental disabilities.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience using statistical analysis on data sets.
- Experience with functional behavior assessments and intervention design.
- Experience creating resources/visual aids for treatment planning and data storytelling via graphs/pivot tables/dashboards (example software: Microsoft Excel, Access, Canva, PowerPoint etc).
- Experience providing training and instruction related to behavior treatment to staff, community members, and families.
