Introduction

Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) within the Department of Health Services (DHS) is hiring multiple full-time Treatment Providers to work onsite at SRSTC in Mauston. Working hours are 7:45am-4:30pm Monday-Friday.

SRSTC opened in 2001 and provides care and treatment for several different patient populations. The center houses Wisconsin’s Sexually Violent Persons Program, provides care and treatment for persons found not guilty by reasons of mental disease or mental defect, and provides court ordered treatment, testing, and education to patients found not competent to stand trial. SRSTC is a 500-bed treatment facility and is part of the Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS). Watch this video to learn more about the work of DCTS.

Position Summary

SRSTC provides treatment services to adult male sexual offenders who have been civilly committed or who are awaiting commitment under Wis. Stat. Ch. 980. As a Treatment Provider, you will carry out direct service activities, consultation, and research within your assigned treatment program area. You will:

  • Develop treatment plans and assess and evaluate treatment of assigned patients.
  • Provide input on Treatment Progress Reports (TPRs) and provide testimony on a patient’s progress in treatment.
  • Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary team, consulting with other staff regarding treatment planning and implementation as needed and integrating treatment in daily living.

Salary Information

  • These positions may be filled at the Treatment Provider – Chapter 980 - Intermediate or Treatment Provider - Chapter 980 – Senior level based on the selected candidate’s qualifications.
  • The starting pay for the Treatment Provider – Chapter 980 – Intermediate is between $46.00 to $51.59 per hour (approximately $95,600-$107,300 per year), plus excellent benefits.
  • The starting pay for the Treatment Provider – Chapter 980 – Senior is between $56.23 to $58.53 per hour (approximately $116,900-$121,700 per year), plus excellent benefits.
  • A 12-month probationary period is required.
  • These positions are in pay schedule and range 12/80. Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.

Job Details

  • All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility after to their start date.
  • All applicants who may be appointed will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
  • DHS does not sponsor work visas for these positions, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Experience providing psychotherapy clinical services in individual or group formats.
  • A Masters or Doctorate degree in psychology, social work, or other social/behavioral science from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensure or eligible for licensure as one of the following: Clinical Social Worker, Physician, Psychologist, Professional Counselor, or other mental health professional defined per s. 457.01 in the State of Wisconsin. Licensure in Wisconsin must be acquired by the time of appointment.
    • Eligible for licensure is defined as: Currently licensed in another state and in the process of applying for a license in Wisconsin or you must have already completed the required education, completed post graduate supervised practice, and in the process of applying for the license.     • If not currently licensed, be sure to clearly indicate in your application how you meet the eligibility requirements.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience applying the standards for delivery of treatment and assessment of people who have committed sexual offenses.
  • Experience developing and implementing treatment plans for patients.
  • Experience providing direction or guidance to other treatment staff.
