The (WVHK) is recruiting for a Security Officer 4, to provide safety and security services for the Home campus. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Our facility is on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O'Lakes, off Highway 10, between Stevens Point and Appleton.

Position Summary
King's Security Officers provide safety, security, fire and alarm monitoring and response for the members, staff, guests and physical property of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King. The incumbent has responsibility in one of the following specific areas of emphasis: staff training; dispatch; member records and information; and special equipment/wandering member information.

Salary Information
Starting wage is $20.38 per hour, plus an attractive employee benefits package.
Security Officer 4 is in pay schedule-pay range 05-11. For current State employees, pay on hire will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin Compensation Plan.
This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.
Job Details
This position works every other weekend with alternate weekday shifts as follows: Week 1: Monday - Tuesday, 1000 – 1800, Friday-Saturday 1000-2200; Week 2: Sunday 1000-2200, Wednesday - Thursday, 1000 – 0000.
Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
Employees at this healthcare facility are required to report their COVID-19 vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, and provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information by their third day of employment.
Qualifications

- Performing dispatch functions (e.g., operating switchboard, receiving incoming calls, determining priority of calls, determining services needed, taking action to provide services, routing call to appropriate person, documenting call and service provided, summoning additional assistance, etc.)
Additional required and preferred qualifications that will be addressed at a later stage in the selection process are experience with:
- Professional communication and customer service
- Using computer systems including MicroSoft Office
- Screening visitors/staff and verifying access approval
- Patrolling a facility
- Monitoring and responding to alarm systems
